This morning during my devotional time I was reminded of the words of a song that was popular during my childhood.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace
It was a poignant reminder to me that the focus of my attention drifts. I easily get caught up with the list of things that need to be done. I feel anxious about the clients, the projects, the house, my husbands work…
Anxiety at its root is a problem with my gaze and my trust. When the focus of my attention is directed at Jesus life here on earth is put in proper perspective – all the hints that I feel anxious about are really not that important compared to the glory of heaven.
In the week ahead can we all turn our eyes on Jesus?
He is more than able to take care of everything that concerns us!
One of my favorite books on learning to focus our minds on Christ is Joyve Meyer’s best selling Battlefield of the Mind (click image for more info)
