How annoying is it when your shirt or dress keeps falling off your shoulders? Constantly you have to feel the need to pull it up. The battle is endless.
There are a few options. Both require a little sewing skill.
First it is important to recognize the root of the problem.
One of the main reasons that it is give you trouble is that the shoulders on the garment are too wide.
One way to address this issue directly is to make the shoulder width on the garment narrower. This could be done by bringing the garment up at the shoulder seams. However, this is not the easiest way because it would mean that if there are sleeves on the garment these would have to be reset.
This dress is too wide at the shoulders, which is accentuated by the V neck.
From the inside the darts will look like the picture below. When sewing you have to make sure that they are evenly spaced.
After the darts are sewn in the dress should still lay flat in the back.
There is an alternative method. On the dress below I added a ribbon and snaps in the shoulder seam to go around the bra strap.
