These custom valence are made with typical home decor fabric, lined and stabilized with an iron-on-interfacing. I used Craft Pelon 809 .
The back is lined with a basic muslin.
As you can see from the image above there is also a small pocket near the bottom of the valence for a wire to be inserted. The wire is specifically for the valence to hold its shape. This pocket is sewn into the lining before the valence is constructed.
When making your valence be sure to consider what type of rod you will be using and make the rod pocket wide enough. These valence were hung using basic rods like below.
